Let’s hear one more question the Au Pair Sis received from one of our au pairs:
Question: How can I become a more confident driver?
Practice! Practice! Practice!
You know the old saying, practice makes perfect? So true for driving!
Take a driver training class in your state, if you are able.
If possible, drive in different and increasingly challenging conditions.
Get practice in more than one vehicle, if you can.
First, go for short, daytime rides that are supervised by a more experienced driver.
Then go for short supervised drives, but at night.
Try short daytime rides alone and move toward more challenging nighttime driving.
Try to drive in light traffic conditions with clear weather before attempting to drive in heavier traffic or in inclement weather like rain or snow.
Try to drive with the parents only in the car before taking the children with you.
The more practice in different conditions (time of day, amount of traffic, type of weather), the more confidence you will gain as a driver.
Good luck and be safe!
