What To Do in 2014? Go Au Pair Providence To Announce 2014 Event Schedule!

What does RI, Eastern CT, and South/Central MA have to offer as far as the all-American experience? What bucket-list adventures would you like to fulfill in the coming year?

Go Au Pair Providence wants your ideas! What social and cultural events would you like to attend in 2014?

What about ice skating? My kids and I went yesterday and had a great time! Indoor and outdoor rinks are all over the area, and rental is very reasonable if you left your skates back home!

How about a PawSox game or some other sporting event? As a Providence College alumni, I may be able to get some tickets to a Friars games, if that sounds interesting.

One sporting event that is growing in popularity in America is dirt bike riding. Hare scrambles are dirt bike races held in wooded and forested areas, as well as in open fields and pastures, where one can run along the trails or stand back on a hill for a great view. These events are for the young and old alike; tailgating is always part of the fun, and some even involve camping!

Rhode Island beaches are not to be ignored, as we have literally 400 miles of coastline in the smallest state in the country! Beat that!

Not to mention our beautiful capital city, Providence, the Renaissance city, for those who appreciate the arts and fine dining. Our capital city also boasts the free event, WaterFire, which is know around the world as an especially magical event. Up to 100 braziers are lit with wood-burning fires along the three rivers which converge in the downtown section of Providence. It is not to be missed, by locals and visitors alike!

Have you considered which 4th of July parade you will attend? Rhode Island boasts two of the oldest parades in the country. We have the very traditional Bristol Parade in the southern part of the state, and the satirical Ancients & Horribles Parade in Chepachet, a small village in the northwestern corner of Rhode Island.

What about a good old-fashioned cookout with family games in the yard? My family loves croquet and actually holds tournaments on most of the summer holidays. What yard games does your family enjoy? What about picnic food? Everyone has their specialty, and I would love to expand my palate and taste your family’s best recipe!

One of my favorite fall activities is taking a hay ride with the kids and picking fresh apples and pumpkins to make seasonal goodies when we get home.

I also love to visit the animals at the zoo, and my kids especially love the ocean animals found at the aquariums in nearby MA and CT.

By the way, sometimes it is nice, when you want to get to know new friends, to just hang out and watch a movie, eat some snacks, and chat a while.

How do you like to get to know new friends?

What are some of your hobbies that you would like to explore while here in the US?

I am happy to announce that I am hard at work on the Go Au Pair Providence Social Events Plan for 2014, but I need your input! If our events are to be successful, we need people to be interested and attend!

Send me your ideas for events or social experiences you think an Au Pair would enjoy, or comment on the ones I suggested. Don’t forget to tell your friends, get your referral discount, or sign up as a new Host Family and ask about our Local Area Discount in RI, CT, and MA.

Waiting to hear from you!

Your Local Area Representative in Providence,

Joan Lowell
