Traveling to PA Next Month?

Thank you Milton Hershey and American Cancer Society

Participating in a charity event is a great way to show your au pair what American families hold near and dear. Find a local event near you, or make a day trip or weekend of it, and participate in something that gives back to the community. Engage in your community and your family and you are bound to see positive results, at home and all around you. Consider a charity walk for a subject important to your au pair’s or you, the host family. Has someone suffered from cancer? Is there an autistic family member? Can you find a charity event near you to match your family issues?

I normally write about very local events, close to the Providence, RI area. Go Au Pair Providence has extended family all over the country, though. My seventh grade daughter, Nadine, is an honor student at Catherine Hall Middle School in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Next month, our very dear friends at Milton Hershey School are holding an event worthy of your attention.

The Cancer Care Community Walk will be held rain or shine at Henry Hershey Field, on the MHS campus. They are holding a 24-hour relay walk, with proceeds funding MHS alumni and their families who are battling cancer. American Cancer Society will also receive a portion of the proceeds.

All of our lives have been touched by cancer, and what better way to honor cancer survivors and memorialize those passed on than to participate in this community-wide event to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. My own paternal grandfather died of cancer, as did my maternal grandmother. If you might be in the Hershey, PA area on the weekend of April 12-13, stop by and cheer on the students, family and staff who are walking in the 24-hour relay! We’d love to see you there! If you cannot participate, maybe you could donate to the American Cancer Society in your community.

When you are ready to give your family the cultural childcare experience of a lifetime, contact me, Joan Lowell, your Local Area Representative for Go Au Pair at 401.309.1925 or jlowell@goaupair.com. Your au pair childcare experience can cost as little as $7.31 per hour for 45 hours of flexible, engaging childcare and child-related household help! Daycare can’t compete with that! I look forward to hearing from you soon!
