I know many of you here in RI are new to the idea of an au pair. Au pairs are international childcare providers who have specific training and experience, who come to America and other countries to have a cultural exchange and educational experience while providing you, the Host Family, with reliable and affordable childcare.
Au Pair childcare is not new. It is a program, supported and regulated by the U.S. Department of State since its inception in 1988. Go Au Pair has been a childcare agency since before the Au Pair Program existed, and joined as one of the original 8 designated agencies allowed to sponsor the J-1 Visa in 1989.
You and your family can rest assured that you and your au pair will be supported by trained and experience professional staff members, both in our main office in Salt Lake City, Utah, and in our Local Area Representatives in over 50 cities across the United States. We are here in RI, CT, and MA with at least 3 Local Reps and over 20 families.
In addition to the childcare you au pair will provide, he or she can do any number of other childcare-related tasks, such as kids laundry, light meal and snack prep and clean up, and even driving to and from school or other activities. One of the best benefits parents discover for their children is the fact that au pairs are natural tutors. They come here speaking English to varying degrees, rated from 1 to 5 based on their interview with the International Au Pair representative. While here, they strive to improve their English, not only for their own selfish reasons, but to more fully experience life in their new American family, care for their American children, and navigate their college class/educational requirements.
While all of this is going on, and your children may act as a sort of English teacher to their au pair, the opposite also happens. Your children will begin to learn the language of their au pair. Some children have more interest in learning a foreign language, while other children, particularly teens who take language as part of a high school class, will find the experience unmatched. The added beauty of the Au Pair Program is that you, the Host Family, can choose the language and home country of your au pair.
So if your child really wants to learn that obscure foreign language and you need reliable childcare and some help around the house, why not kill three or four birds with one stone, and one cost, and host an au pair from Go Au Pair?
