It’s that time of year again! All over the country, au pairs are experiencing their first Halloween ever! Au pairs in RI have many spooky options, all within driving distance. Let’s take a quick peak at a couple of great choices, if you dare!
Visit Rhode Island’s only haunted fortress and four awesome attractions at FEAR at Fort Adams in Newport, RI. Visit fear.fortadams.org to buy tickets. For only $15.00 per person, you get admission to these two attractions:
Haunted Officers Quarters is a not-too-scary attraction where the guest is allowed to walk alone and unguided into the ruins of the old officers quarters of Fort Adams. There may be a few things to jump out at you…scream but don’t touch.
Tunnels of Terror may be the scariest fifteen minutes of your life. Walk through the more than 150 old underground tunnels of historic Fort Adams, this is a high startle type of walk which utilizes dramatic fog and strobe lights. It is definitely not for children under age twelve or the lily-love red among you!
Apocalypse Airsoft is an Airsoft target range where your game lasts as long as your ammo, which is an additional $5 and includes a full magazine, the Airsoft rifle and a face shield. This could make for a fun contest to see who can hit the most target.
The Halloween Carnival Midway is a Halloween themed game area with spooky prizes. Tickets required vary with each game and can be purchased at their box office or game stand.
There is only one Ghost Hunt left of this season, Halloween night at 10pm, where you will spend two hours with a small group and an investigator from The Rhode Island Paranormal Research Group, as well as a Fort Adams Dedicated Tour Guide. You will participate in an investigation for paranormal activity and tour the fort with up to 30 other brave souls, or more if you count the ghosts!
If going to Newport isn’t your thing, Providence Ghost Tours is a 90 minute walking tour of the historic East Side of Providence by lantern light. Your tour guide will tell you true local tales that will make the hair on the beck of your neck stand right up! I recommend you bring a digital camera to capture any possible sightings.
Maybe you are looking for something more like simple family fun. I highly recommend the Roger Williams Park Zoo Halloween Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular. See over 5000 illuminated jack-o-lanterns in this breathtaking annual display, with over 125 of them artistically carved into different characters and Halloween-themed scenes. Separate from zoo admission, the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular opens at dusk or 6pm and costs $12 for adults during the week, but Friday through Sunday the price jumps to $16, so it makes a great mid-week evening activity.
