Summer is Fair Season in Southern New England

Welcome to Southern New England in the summer! I hope you have been able to join Go Au Pair Providence for one or more of our recent events to either Newport Cliff Walk or Providence WaterFire. If not, at least get out and see what the Ocean State, and our neighbors, has to offer. First, get to our beaches! With over 350 miles of beaches, Rhode Island has much to offer, whether you are looking for a quiet, non-touristy beach like Charlestown Breachway or you want to see all the sights at Scarborough or Misquamicut Beaches.

Not into the sand and sea? How about a good old-fashioned summer fair? What?! You’ve never heard of or been to a summer fair? We have many different fairs and festivals in the area. Some are musical in nature, like the Newport Music Festival (finishing up this weekend)  while others are absolutely tasty, like the Charlestown Seafood Festival. Whatever your interests, we have something for you and your family and au pair.

One awesome and fun American cultural experience is attending a summer fair. We have one nearly every weekend somewhere in the area. Even the small town of Foster has Foster Old Home Days this weekend. Come see some live animals, taste some home-cooking, see the horse pulls or tractor pulls and ride a kiddie ride. I may even enter one of the baking contests, but I can’t decide on pie or cookies (cookies would be easier).

Au pairs are here as part of a cultural experience and can work for their American Host Families up to 45 hours per week, for an average cost (to RI area families) of less than $7.55 per hour. Your au pair can do childcare duties for all of your children ages 12 weeks and up, including supervising chores and homework, cooking for the kids, cleaning up after meals and playtime, and even doing kids’ laundry. Your family gets a cultural childcare experience, a big brother or sister (yes, we have male au pairs too!), a friend for life, a language tutor, and so much more!

If you are interested in a cultural childcare experience with Go Au Pair, contact me, Joan Lowell, your Local Area Representative, at 401.309.1925 or jlowell@goaupair.com. You can also apply online and get started for free right away at http://www.goaupair.com/Providence. I look forward to meeting you and your family soon!
