Not sure what hosting an Au Pair entails? Today’s families are busy, but they need reliable and affordable childcare. Some fear hosting will bring a load of new expenses or problems, but I assure you, hosting truly is a mutually beneficial experience when done with care. Cyndi Frick wrote a great piece to address the many concerns of Host Families, and I encourage you to educate yourself. Getting beyond the initial fear, families find their Au Pair adds so much to their family during their year or more stay.

Families are often unique blendings of ethnic backgrounds or nationalities, especially here in Rhode Island. Many of these families do not want their children to lose touch with their roots. What better way to teach your child a native language or customs and traditions from the homeland than by hosting an Au Pair to help teach them? Go Au Pair offers cultural exchange experiences for families, and we are looking to place more Au Pairs in the RI, CT and MA region.

There are so many tasks an Au Pair can help your children with, the list is exhaustive. The very best part of the experience is the cultural exchange & lifelong relationship your child gains, no matter their ages. Did I mention this comes at one great price for all of your kids? You set the schedule you need, and your Au Pair can do lots of childcare-related tasks too, like kids’ laundry, supervising chores and homework and more!

All of our candidates are ready to interview and match with you. We want to provide as many viable candidates as you need to find your family’s Mutual Match, as we call it. All of our Au Pairs pass a 17-point screening process including background check & personality profile, speak English (rated 1-5), receive 32 hours child care training in child development & safety, provide live-in care for children & perform child care related tasks like meal prep for kids, children’s laundry, cleaning children’s playroom & bedrooms.

Each Au Pair is responsible to complete an educational component to complete the program. Host Families contribute up to $500 toward this component and pay their Au Pair a weekly stipend. Go Au Pair provides cultural events & social experiences for your au pair while he or she is here, as well as a list of approved schools where he or she can complete their educational component.

An au pair can solve your child care needs and provide so much more for your family. He or she can provide before/after care, walk or drive your child to school & pick them up, make sure they have healthy snacks & meals, & supervise them at activities or play dates.

Prices are right for families with up to 45 hours (not more than 10 per day) of childcare for only $340 per week, or up to 30 hours for only $288 per week, no matter how many children or which duties you need. In addition to full child care, au pairs can perform light child-related housekeeping such as child’s laundry or tidying children’s rooms or play areas. You do need a private bedroom for your au pair, since it is a live-in program.

You can choose the country your au pair calls home, as well as what languages he or she speaks. Many are bi-lingual and tri-lingual!

Your children will be exposed to the culture, traditions, foods, games & stories of your choice. In addition, you choose the budget options that work for you, set the schedule you need, & choose the skills specific to your family, such as someone who drives or is CPR/First Aid certified.

I would like to discuss the affordable cultural childcare options Go Au Pair can offer your family. Please contact me, Joan Lowell, your RI area LAR, at 401.309.1925 or jlowell@goaupair.com. You can also register for free online to get started from home right away.
